Glenn Beck - Restoring Honor Rally

I found it interesting that Glenn Beck had his “Restoring Honor” rally at the Lincoln Memorial, and had pictures of Lincoln plastered on all the rally material. I guess Glenn forgot that Lincoln ordered the deaths of about 250,000 southern men and women during the War to Prevent Southern Independence, and then set the ball rolling for a brutal decade-long occupation of the former Confederate states. Exactly how is that “honorable?” My, how conservatives worship at the feet of dictators and tyrants. As long as they have an “R” after their name.

So many people give Lincoln an out by blaming the brutality of the post-war Southern occupation on the “radical republicans” in Congress. While that’s true, they would have never been so emboldened if it hadn’t been for Lincoln’s complete disregard of the Constitution and slaughtering of tens of thousands of Southerners at the hands of criminally insane generals like Sherman. When the President shreds the Constitution, what do you expect his successors to do? The same thing. Just like Bush completely disregarded the Constitution on a dozen occasions, now we have Obama doing the same thing.

So, Glenn. At your next rally, it’d probably be a good idea to steer clear of mass murderers as the face of your P.R. campaign. It sends a slightly wrong message. There are plenty of Americans from history that actually cared about freedom and liberty. Lincoln was absolutely not one of them.

You are an idiot ! If you knew your US history, you would know that Lincoln did not want the war ! Go back to grade school and learn your American History !

Going back to grade school wouldn’t help since learning history from my P.E. coach in a decrepit, government owned school is hardly what I would consider substantive education. But I’ll play along.

Do you think that grade school history text books include the fact that the Confederacy sent a delegation to Lincoln to try and negotiate the paying off of the Southern state’s share of the national debt, but Lincoln refused to meet with them?

Or, do you think that high school history texts include the fact that Lincoln threatened the South with war in his inauguration speech?

Or, maybe they just accidently left out the fact that Alexander Stephens himself wrote later in his memoirs that the war had been inaugurated by Lincoln, saying, “the aggressor in war is not the first who uses force, but the first who renders force necessary.”

I suggest that you delve into some other source material besides high school textbooks, which should hardly be taken as authoritative on anything, save math. Read The Lincoln Nobody Knows and The Real Lincoln before you make up your mind about the man that is called by even liberal historians a “benevolent dictator.”

Well, Beck has made it pretty clear that the D and the R are irrelevant, and you have made it clear that I made a mistake when I thought you were going to say something worth listening to.

You misspelled “bigot” in your blog’s name.

    Peace.

    Bigot? Seriously?

    Man, I’m a prophet: http://www.southernbread.org/my-kids-are-colorblind/.
