I’m writing another article for Linux
Journal magazine. It’s about building and integrating a
LAMP(Linux, Apache, MySql, Perl/PHP) based intranet with other systems
like Windows, SQL Server and Netware/Groupwise. They accepted the
article proposal and sent me an assignment letter so we’ll have to see
if it gets published. Writing an article is tedious. I have a lot of
respect for people who do it for a living. Especially technical
journalists because they have to get so many technical details right
and explain things in a way that isn’t condescending yet doesn’t
presume too much on the part of the reader. Switching back and forth
between prose and example code and technical explanations is hard to do
well. I think one guy who does it really well is Randall Schwartz. He
writes a column called “Perl
of Wisdom” for Linux Magazine.
